Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You need surgery on one or two lower back bones (lumbar vertebrae).
  • You have a narrowed spinal canal plus a stable slipped vertebra, and are getting decompression surgery.
  • Or you have a narrowed spinal canal plus an unstable slipped vertebra, a pinched nerve, or a worn-out disc, and are getting fusion surgery.
  • You understand German well enough to follow the study instructions.
