Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 65 years old
  • Have confirmed drug-sensitive TB and moderate to severe lung changes on chest X-ray
  • Have a lung function test (FEV1) at 65% or less of what is expected for your age, height, sex, and race
  • Weigh between 30 and 90 kg (about 66 to 198 pounds)
  • If you are a woman of childbearing age and sexually active, be willing to use birth control during the study
  • If you have HIV, your CD4 count must be 100 or higher and you must be on or willing to start HIV treatment
