Nerve stimulation for pain after lung surgery

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • Your health status is classified as ASA I, II, or III (generally healthy to stable chronic disease)
  • You have never had transauricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) before
  • You are scheduled for a video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) on one side of your chest to remove part of a lung (segment or lobe)
  • You have pain at least 30 out of 100 on the day of surgery
  • You and your family understand the study plan and agree to participate
