Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 85 years old.
  • You are scheduled for elective heart surgery (like bypass or valve repair) expected to last at least 2 hours.
  • Your heart function is stable (NYHA class I-III).
  • You do not have severe memory problems, dementia, Parkinson's, or a major mental health condition.
  • You do not have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device.
  • You have no skin issues or past surgery on both ears.
