Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 90 years old
  • You are scheduled for a planned surgery that requires a breathing tube (orotracheal intubation)
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or lower (not severely obese)
  • You are not pregnant
  • You do not have tumors, goiter, or prior radiation to your neck area
  • You do not have major facial or jaw abnormalities or fractures of the face or neck
