Who can take part

  • You must be a child or teen with severe heart failure symptoms that don't get better with standard treatments.
  • Your heart may pump weakly (less than 30% function), or you may have heart failure on the right side, or a heart valve or birth defect that can't be fixed with surgery.
  • You may need strong water pills or medicines to help your heart pump, or you've had dangerous heart rhythms leading to multiple hospital visits in the past year.
  • Your heart condition may make it hard to walk, walk less than 300 meters in 6 minutes, or your peak oxygen use is very low.
  • You cannot have another life-shortening illness or a heart defect that can be fixed with a procedure.
