Aerobic exercise with or without a low calorie diet for teens with Down syndrome

Who can take part

  • Your child is between 8 and 16 years old.
  • Your child has Down syndrome and is overweight or obese (BMI at or above the 85th percentile for their age).
  • Your child is generally healthy and does not have other major medical conditions that would interfere with diet or exercise.
  • Your child has not taken part in any weight loss exercise program before, and has not been on a specific diet plan for the last 6 months.
  • Your child is not taking any medications that could affect weight or metabolism, and does not have severe cognitive impairments or physical disabilities that would prevent safe exercise.
