Can mouth muscle tests help diagnose sleep apnea?

This study tests a new device that measures muscle activity in your mouth to diagnose sleep apnea—without needing to spend the night in a lab. If you've already had a sleep test showing either no sleep apnea or moderate to severe sleep apnea, and you're not using CPAP daily, you may be able to help.

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have had a prior sleep test (either no sleep apnea or moderate to severe).
  • You do not use a CPAP or similar breathing device every day.
  • You have not had specific throat surgery for sleep apnea (UPPP).
  • You are not currently pregnant.
