Who can take part

  • You have fluid around your lung that hasn't been diagnosed yet.
  • The fluid is the kind that happens with inflammation (lymphocytic exudate).
  • You do not have a pus-filled infection (empyema) in the chest.
  • You do not have severe shortness of breath or high carbon dioxide levels in your blood.
  • You are generally well enough to have a minor procedure (performance status better than 5).
