Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have early-stage tonsil cancer or a salivary gland tumor in the tonsil area, confirmed by biopsy
  • You are scheduled to have a robotic surgery to remove part of your throat on one side
  • You have not had head or neck cancer before or radiation to the head or neck
  • You do not have trouble opening your mouth wide, and you are not at high risk for opioid addiction
