Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have low back pain (pain between your lower ribs and buttocks, with or without leg pain).
  • You are willing to have an MRI scan of your brain (fMRI), provide stool samples, answer questionnaires, and take part in other study procedures.
  • You have not taken antibiotics or probiotics in the last 4 weeks.
  • You do not have a pacemaker, metal implants, or severe claustrophobia that would prevent an MRI.
  • You do not have a spinal infection, tumor, fracture, or inflammatory disease (like ankylosing spondylitis).
