Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 60 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 35 and 50.
  • Your overall health is rated as ASA II or III (moderate to serious but stable health).
  • You are not on blood thinners, gabapentin, or long-term opioids.
  • You have no chronic pain, liver/kidney/heart disease, or a history of upper digestive surgery.
  • You are not allergic to dexmedetomidine or bupivacaine.
