Who can take part
- You are in the cardiac surgery ICU after a heart surgery.
- You developed acute kidney injury (a sudden drop in kidney function) within 48 hours of arriving in the ICU.
- You do not have severe chronic kidney disease (GFR below 15 or on dialysis).
- You were not in critical condition just before surgery (like severe shock, cardiac arrest, or on a heart/lung machine).
- You do not have liver cirrhosis, a blocked inferior vena cava, or morbid obesity (BMI over 40).
- You are not pregnant, and you can have an ultrasound done.
