Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 1 and 8 years old.
  • The surgery is planned (not an emergency), lasts less than 1 hour, and uses general anesthesia.
  • Your child must be in good health (no serious heart, lung, or brain conditions).
  • Your child must not have a stuffy nose, nose infection, or nosebleeds right now.
  • Your child must not be allergic to the study medicines (midazolam or dexmedetomidine).
