Who can take part
- You have severe leg pain or small ulcers (Rutherford category 4 or 5) due to blocked arteries below the knee.
- The blockage is in a short segment (18 mm or less) of an artery below the knee, and the vessel diameter is between 3.0 and 3.4 mm.
- You are able to take blood thinners (like aspirin and clopidogrel) for at least 3 months after the procedure.
- You have not had a stroke in the past 3 months, your kidney function is reasonably good, and you have no major bleeding or immune system problems.
- There is no metal stent already in the target artery, and the artery has not been treated with balloon angioplasty in the last 60 days.
