Who can take part

  • You have a wound or tissue loss on your leg or foot from poor circulation (called chronic limb-threatening ischemia).
  • You have a blocked artery below the knee that needs to be opened.
  • Your leg is still able to be saved (not beyond repair or needing amputation right away).
  • You do not have a sudden, severe loss of blood flow to your leg (acute limb ischemia).
  • You do not have artery disease caused by conditions like vasculitis, Buerger's disease, or other inflammatory illnesses.
  • You can safely receive contrast dye used in imaging tests.
