Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) — a type of keyhole lung surgery.
  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • Your surgery is planned, not an emergency.
  • You have no known allergy to numbing medicines (local anesthetics).
  • You have no bleeding disorder or history of spine surgery or deformity.
