Who can take part

  • You are between 6 and 17 years old.
  • You have symptoms that might be asthma (like wheezing or coughing).
  • You have been sent for a special breathing test (methacholine challenge) by a doctor who is not a lung, ear-nose-throat, or allergy specialist.
  • Your basic breathing test (spirometry) was not clear enough to diagnose asthma.
  • You have not used a steroid inhaler or steroid pills in the last 48 hours.
  • You have not smoked in the last 6 hours, had a cold or lung infection in the last 4 weeks, or have major lung or heart disease.
