Chondromalacia Patella

This study looks at how different stages of knee cartilage damage (chondromalacia) affect your balance. You will be tested on a special balance machine to help doctors understand how your knee problem might affect your stability.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 40 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with chondromalacia (knee cartilage damage) confirmed by an MRI
  • Your knee pain has lasted more than 3 months
  • You have a positive patellar grind test (a test for knee pain)
  • You have not had knee replacement surgery or any injections in the affected knee in the past 3 months
  • You do not have rheumatoid arthritis, other inflammatory arthritis, or any balance or nerve problems
