Can muscle vibration help when you are less active?

This study tests whether gentle muscle vibration can help prevent muscle and bone loss when you reduce your activity. You will have one leg vibrated for a short time each day to see if it keeps your muscles strong.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 45 years old.
  • You have a healthy body weight (BMI between 18.5 and 24.9).
  • You exercise at least 1.5 hours per week (like brisk walking, running, or swimming).
  • You are generally healthy with no heart, nerve, muscle, bone, or metabolic conditions.
  • You are not taking antidepressants or other medications that affect your nervous system.
  • You have not injured a bone or ligament in the last year.
