Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older.
  • You are currently hospitalized with an infection and are being treated with one of these antibiotics: ceftazidime, cefepime, or ceftriaxone.
  • You did not have confusion or delirium before this hospital stay.
  • You are not allergic to any cephalosporin antibiotics.
  • You are not in septic shock (severe infection causing organ failure).
  • You are not taking medications that can cause confusion, such as certain sedatives, sleeping pills, or strong painkillers (like opioids).
  • You do not have severe liver disease, kidney failure requiring dialysis, or a major electrolyte imbalance.
