Brain stimulation study for depression treatment

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

This trial tests a new type of brain stimulation called theta-burst stimulation to see if it helps treat depression. It is for people aged 18-50 who are currently experiencing a major depressive episode and are on a stable antidepressant regimen.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 50 years old.
  • You are currently in a major depressive episode (a period of significant depression).
  • You have been on a stable dose of your antidepressant for at least 4 weeks (if you take one).
  • You are right-handed or ambidextrous (can use both hands equally well).
  • You do not have a history of bipolar disorder, intellectual disability, or psychotic disorder.
  • You do not have any metal implants, a pacemaker, hearing device, or history of seizures that would interfere with brain stimulation or MRI scanning.
