Who can take part

  • Women aged 18 to 70
  • Scheduled for a planned hysterectomy through the abdomen (not laparoscopy or vaginal)
  • General anesthesia (not spinal or epidural)
  • Have a blood test within 24 hours before surgery
  • Stay in the hospital at least one night after surgery
  • No current use of sedatives or sleep medications
  • No existing sleep disorder or psychiatric condition
