Comparing two ventilator methods for burn patients

Who can take part

  • Weigh at least 88 pounds (40 kg)
  • Have been on a breathing machine for less than 24 hours before coming to the burn ICU, or need to be put on a breathing machine within 48 hours of arriving
  • Expected to need the breathing machine for at least another 24 hours
  • Start the study treatment within 48 hours of arriving at the burn ICU
  • Have a central line and blood pressure monitor in place as part of routine care
  • Sign a consent form (or have a legal guardian or doctor sign for you)
