Who can take part

  • You are between 22 and 80 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with major depression and have moderate to severe treatment resistance.
  • You score above 20 on two depression rating scales (Beck Depression Inventory and Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale).
  • You are on a stable antidepressant medication (or none) for 4 weeks before starting and agree not to change it during the study.
  • You have a primary psychiatrist or therapist overseeing your care during the trial.
  • You agree to avoid pregnancy, maintain your usual caffeine intake, and stop alcohol, tobacco, and drugs for 24 hours before each brain scan and treatment session.
