Who can take part
- You are 18 or older and in good general health (no serious medical conditions that would make surgery risky).
- You have a tooth with a long-standing infection that keeps coming back even after a root canal, and a deep gum pocket (more than 6 mm) on the cheek side of that tooth.
- X-rays show that the bone on the cheek side of the tooth is missing (a 'hole' in the bone).
- The tooth does not have a crack, does not have gum disease throughout the mouth, and has a good filling or crown that seals it completely.
- You are not pregnant and do not smoke.
