Who can take part

  • Be 18 to 75 years old
  • Have been diagnosed with primary high blood pressure (not caused by another condition)
  • Be on a stable combination of at least two blood pressure medications for 4 weeks or more, including a specific type (ARB and CCB, possibly plus a water pill)
  • Have high blood pressure readings even with medication: office systolic 150-179 mmHg and diastolic at least 90 mmHg, plus 24-hour monitor systolic at least 135 mmHg
  • Have suitable kidney artery size and no major blockages, stents, or other problems in those arteries
