Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and had a confirmed bleeding stroke (called a subarachnoid hemorrhage) seen on a scan.
  • You will already be having a catheter-based brain vessel study (called a DSA) as part of your routine care.
  • You have headaches that can be rated on a standard pain scale, and you are able to report your pain level.
  • You are mentally alert enough to understand and sign a consent form.
  • You are not allergic to lidocaine (or similar numbing drugs), egg/soy products, or methylprednisolone (a steroid).
  • You do not have certain serious heart rhythm problems, uncontrolled diabetes, or are not pregnant/breastfeeding.
