Who can take part
- You have at least 3 of these: heart failure with weak pumping (ejection fraction under 40%), complex heart surgery, high surgical risk score above 4%, advanced kidney disease (Stage 4), type 2 diabetes, blood thinner (heparin) before surgery, underactive thyroid, or certain blood pressure medicines (ACE inhibitors, ARBs, beta-blockers, or Sacubitril).
- You are not having a heart transplant, needing support like a ventricular assist device (HeartMate, Impella, Carmat), or have pre-existing sepsis.
- You are not pregnant, under 18, or on dialysis without urine output.
- You have no pituitary or adrenal gland problems, no need for life support or circulatory support before surgery.
- You are not under legal guardianship or opposition to research.
