Who can take part

  • You are 45 years or older.
  • Your overall health is rated as ASA II or III (meaning you have mild to serious health problems that are well-controlled).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 35, which is a measure of weight relative to height.
  • You are willing to join the study and sign a consent form.
  • You do not have any condition that makes a sacral canal block unsafe for you (such as an infection or bleeding problem at the injection site).
  • You can hear and speak normally (or use an interpreter) so you can communicate with the study team.
