Nerve Block With or Without Extra Medicine for Hip Replacement

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a planned total hip replacement surgery.
  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You are in generally good health (ASA class 1, 2, or 3) as assessed by your doctor.
  • You have not been taking strong pain medicines (opioids) daily for more than 3 months.
  • You do not have morbid obesity (BMI under 40), and you have no history of stroke or serious heart, lung, kidney, or nerve problems.
