Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 75 years old
  • Have a confirmed SOD1 gene mutation known to cause ALS
  • Have a definite or probable diagnosis of ALS (family or sporadic type)
  • Not have certain SOD1 mutations (at positions 44-66 or the F21C change)
  • Be medically stable with no severe liver, kidney, or heart problems
  • Not be pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy during the study
