Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have stage II or III rectal cancer (tumor invades through the muscle or into nearby lymph nodes, but hasn't spread elsewhere).
- The lower edge of your tumor is no more than 4 inches (10 cm) from your anus.
- You have been diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma (the most common type of rectal cancer).
- You are in good general health (able to perform daily activities without significant limitation).
- Your blood counts and organ function (kidney, liver, bleeding/clotting) are within a certain safe range.
