Who can take part

  • You have rectal cancer that has not spread to other parts of the body (stage 1 to 3).
  • The tumor is located in the lower part of the rectum (within 12 cm of the anal opening).
  • You must be 18 or older and in good general health (able to do daily activities).
  • You cannot have had any prior cancer treatment for rectal cancer or radiation to the pelvis.
  • You must be willing to use effective birth control during treatment and for 6 months after.
