Nutrition help for nasopharyngeal cancer patients on chemoradiation

Who can take part

  • You have nasopharyngeal cancer confirmed by biopsy.
  • Your cancer is stage II to IVa and you are scheduled for chemoradiotherapy as your main treatment.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a PG-SGA score between 0 and 8, meaning you are not severely malnourished before starting radiation.
  • You have a performance status of at least 60 on the KPS scale or 0-3 on the ECOG scale, meaning you are able to care for yourself.
  • You can take nutrition by mouth or through a tube.
  • Your blood counts and liver/kidney function are within acceptable limits.
  • You are not allergic to oral nutritional supplements.
  • You do not have another active cancer or uncontrolled diabetes or severe metabolic disease.
