Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- You have chest pain (angina) or have had a heart attack in the past, but not a severe type called STEMI.
- You need a stent for a new calcium blockage in your heart artery.
- The blockage is at least 70% narrow, or 50-70% with evidence of reduced blood flow.
- The calcium involves a large amount of the artery wall (at least 270 degrees) as seen on imaging.
- A regular balloon could not open the blockage enough before the test.
- You are not allergic to contrast dye, can take blood thinners, and have no active autoimmune disease.
