  • You must be under 18 years old.
  • You need general anesthesia for a surgery, endoscopy, interventional radiology, or imaging study.
  • You must not have anything on your neck or upper chest that blocks an ultrasound (like a tracheostomy, neck brace, or bandage).
  • You must not have certain heart or lung conditions that change how blood flows with breathing (like complex heart defects or pulmonary hypertension).
  • You must not have conditions that make giving extra fluids risky (like kidney failure, swelling, or heart failure with weak pumping).
