Who can take part

  • You must be a child from birth up to 15 years old.
  • You are in a pediatric intensive care unit on a ventilator.
  • Your doctor has already decided to give you extra fluids to help your circulation.
  • Your ventilator settings use a low breathing volume (less than 6 ml per kg).
  • You do not have certain heart rhythm problems or a condition called ECMO (heart-lung machine).
