Who can take part
- You are 18 to 75 years old
- You have a confirmed cancer diagnosis and your platelet count is between 50 and 100 (low but not dangerously low) due to cancer treatment
- You have not had a platelet transfusion or used platelet-raising drugs like Nplate or Promacta in the past week
- You are able to care for yourself (ECOG performance status 0, 1, or 2) and your life expectancy is over 3 months
- You do not have a bleeding disorder, history of blood clots, severe heart disease, or active serious infection
- If female and able to become pregnant, you agree to use effective birth control during the trial and for 6 months after, and have a negative pregnancy test before starting
