Who can take part

  • Aged 18 to 50 years old
  • Diagnosis of bipolar I, bipolar II, or schizoaffective disorder (bipolar type)
  • Current depressive symptoms, with stable mood-stabilizing medication for at least 2 weeks
  • Willing to follow a strict high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet for the study duration
  • No current alcohol or drug use disorder (nicotine allowed), and certain other medical exclusions
