Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 55 years old
- You have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and are currently in a major depressive episode
- Your depression score is at least moderately high on a standard questionnaire
- You are taking a stable medication regimen (or none) for at least 4 weeks
- You do not have any other major psychiatric or unstable medical conditions
- You are able to undergo blood draws and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans
