Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 2 weeks old (born at least 38 weeks) and 18 years old.
  • They must be on a breathing machine (ventilator) with a tube in their windpipe for less than 7 days.
  • They must have low oxygen levels in their blood and cloudy spots on both sides of their lung X-ray.
  • Their breathing problem must not be caused by heart failure or fluid overload.
  • Doctors must expect them to live more than 3 days, and you must be open to all available treatments.
