  • Age 18 or older
  • Admitted to the Burn Intensive Care Unit with burns covering at least 10% of your body
  • Having a blood culture because your doctor suspects sepsis (like fever or unstable blood pressure)
  • Able to provide written consent or have a legal representative do it for you
  • Not pregnant
  • No long-term use of immunosuppressant drugs or conditions that affect your immune system
