Who can take part

  • You are 65 years old or older
  • You have been diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) within the last 24 hours
  • You are currently on a breathing machine or non-invasive support like a CPAP mask
  • You do not have severe heart, liver, or kidney failure
  • You have not had a lung infection (like pneumonia) or a blood clotting disorder
  • You have not taken any special immune therapy (cytokine-based drugs) in the last 3 months
