  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You have cirrhosis and high blood pressure in the liver (portal hypertension).
  • Your varices are moderate or severe on a recent endoscopy.
  • You have not had bleeding from varices in the last 5 days.
  • You are scheduled for endoscopic treatment of varices during this hospital stay.
