Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have a diagnosis of cirrhosis (based on medical history, physical exam, lab tests, imaging, or liver biopsy).
  • You must have had an upper endoscopy (gastroscopy) recently.
  • You must not have had a past variceal bleed, TIPS procedure, or endoscopic treatment for varices.
  • You must not have active liver cancer, a portal vein clot, or a removed spleen.
  • You must not have used medications that affect platelets, liver function, or blood clotting in the past week, nor received a blood transfusion recently.
