This trial compares two approaches to prevent future bleeding from enlarged veins in the esophagus (food pipe) in patients with liver cirrhosis who have already had one bleeding episode. You'll receive either an endoscopic procedure with medication or a minimally invasive vein procedure, to see which works better long-term.

Who can take part

  • Age 18 to 75 years
  • Confirmed liver cirrhosis diagnosed by biopsy, imaging, or clinical evaluation
  • Recently hospitalized and treated for bleeding from esophageal varices (enlarged veins) that is now controlled
  • Liver function score (Child-Pugh) between 5 and 13
  • Medically stable and able to receive either treatment option
  • No previous similar procedures (TIPS, surgical shunt, or vein-blocking treatments)
