Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have non-paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF episodes lasting more than 7 days).
  • You have not had a previous ablation for AF, atrial tachycardia, or atypical atrial flutter.
  • Your left atrium (upper heart chamber) is not larger than 55 mm on an ultrasound.
  • You have not had a bleeding stroke in the last 6 months or a mini-stroke in the last month.
  • You are able to sign consent forms and attend follow-up visits.

This trial compares two catheter ablation techniques for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat that doesn't go away on its own).
