How aortic shape affects stent results for coarctation

Aortic GeometryVascular RemodelingCoarctation of AortaBlood PressureResidual StenosisCT AortographyCMRAortic Elasticity and Distensibility

Part of Genetic & congenital, Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This trial looks at how the shape of the aorta affects healing and remodeling after a stent is placed to treat a narrow spot (coarctation). It may help doctors better predict outcomes and choose the best treatment for you.

Who can take part

  • You are 12 years or older
  • You have a narrowing in your main artery (aorta) that is either present from birth or that came back after a prior treatment
  • The pressure difference across the narrow spot measured with a catheter is at least 20 mmHg
  • You weigh 20 kg or more
  • You have had a CT scan of your aorta before and after stent placement

Blood pressure medicine study for people with repaired coarctation of the aorta

This trial tests a type of blood pressure medicine (an angiotensin-II receptor blocker) to see if it can help prevent changes in the heart's structure. It is for people who have had surgery for a coarctation of the aorta and now have mild to moderate high blood pressure.

NCT06740461Not yet recruiting
MRI to measure aortic stiffness in aortic coarctation

This trial uses a special MRI scan to check how stiff the main artery (aorta) is in people with a narrowing called coarctation. It aims to understand how the stiffness affects the heart and blood vessels, which could help guide future care.

NCT06759103Recruiting
Study of patients with aortic coarctation

This study collects information from people diagnosed with aortic coarctation before or shortly after birth, to better understand the condition and improve care. It may be a fit if you or your child were diagnosed before or within one month of birth.

Study how the aorta changes after a valve procedure

This trial looks at how the ascending aorta (the main artery near the heart) changes over time after transcatheter aortic valve replacement. It may help doctors predict who is at risk of aorta enlargement after this less-invasive valve procedure.

Aortic stenosis study: looking at outcomes after TAVI

This study follows people with aortic stenosis who are getting a TAVI valve replacement. It uses imaging tests (MRI and CT) to learn more about the condition and improve future care.

Aorta repair study: heart and vessel changes after stent procedure

This study looks at how the heart changes after a minimally invasive procedure to fix an aortic aneurysm. It uses imaging to track heart function and structure over time.
