Who can take part
- You have severe aortic stenosis (a very tight aortic valve), such as valve area 1.0 cm² or less, or a smaller “indexed” value.
- You have symptoms from your valve problem—your heart doctor classifies you as New York Heart Association (NYHA) class 2 or higher.
- Your surgical team considers you high risk for open-heart (surgical) valve replacement.
- Your doctors think the procedure can be done through the groin artery (transfemoral access).
- You must not have mainly “dominant” aortic regurgitation (valve leaking as the main problem).
- You have not had previous aortic valve replacement or prior aortic surgery, and you don’t have connective tissue disorders.
